BIOGRAFIE    PRESS    FOTO

She can play at 18 wind instrument. For her, the pan-pipe, the flute, the pipe, the tiuga, the jew'sharp or the reed pipe have no secrets . She even knows the secrets of  the iorgaphone, an instrument that only three people in the world know how to play at. We are talking about Cornelia Tihon, a teenager girl whose talent makes the really special songs, played with passion and love at not less than 18 instruments. We must not forget her voice for she uses this talent too. And about her future : " …I have big plans but I don't like talking about them before I accomplish something ." - 2002

A respected promise

She was born at Chisinau, in a family where the artistic talent is present everywhere. For her, everything began with a promise made to her father– himself a player at the pipe, the flute and the ocarine (although he is a history teacher ) – at the age of 5, when he introduced her to the first pipe." At that time I made a promise that I will learn to play the same number of wind instruments as my age. Unfortunately, my  father died shortly after…The first instrument I had learned to play was just the pipe. I play gladly even today from time to time." says Cornelia Tihon.Along the years, the teachers of the young girl were the artisans who made the instruments – Liubomr Iorga (a well-known artisan from Basarabia who created the iorgaphone), Nicolae Sava, Vasile Begenari, Toader Busnea, IoanPredusel.Nothing is too hard for her even if it takes a lot of hard work and sacrifices because everything she does is made with love and commitment. " For me, nothing is too difficult. I thank God for this gift! But it takes a lot of work too. Some instruments can be easily "conquered" , other hardly. The most trouble is with "the pipe without the stopper", but I hope that some day..Every instrument is special in its own way. The less known are "the iorgaphone","thetiuga" and "the cauc", added the young lady. She gets her instruments from different traditional art fairs and exhibitions, investing every time an important amount of money.

"Revelation" – a dream come true

She has been participating to a great numbers of contests and festivals along the years. "It is hard for me to count them all. Every time I got a prize too.And the most important shows in 2005 are "Callatis" Festival,  at the Traditional Music and Dance Festivalin Constanta,at Mamaia Folklore, at "George Enescu" Festival, and "TheGolden Stag" Festival.I was also on tour with the show "Come home " from "Miss Diaspora" through out Italy, Germany,Austria, Belgium. I also participated at the"World Music" Festival in Stara Zagora (Bulgaria)", added Cornelia Tihon. And the list goes on considering she has more than 60diplomas. About her first album , Cornelia admits she prepared it for almost two years and she recorded in two weeks. "It has ten songs. The one that gives the name to the album  - "Revelation" –is composed by her older brother, Aurel, a player himself at the keyboards and the guitar (even if he is a doctor). The other nine are folkloric themes played at  different wind instruments, with a modern scoring. It is my first album– a dream come true – with the help of Phoenix Foundation that is also my manager.I am very happy with the result , specially because I could use house and clubbing scores and to make known to all the young people of my generation the folkloric themes that I love so much" she tells us.

  "The day has only 24 hours,unfortunately "

Apart from her passion for the wind instruments, Cornelia likes to write poetry, to draw, to dance, to watch a film or cartoons. And about her singing…" I practice most of the time but I don't think it is a duty but a pleasure. Everything I do is made with love. The talent is not enough , it takes a lot of work too. And a day has only 24 hours, unfortunately. I would like to learn to play at as many instruments as possible and as good as possible"admits the young lady. She lives now in Bucharest  but she did not forget the places where she was born. "When I'm in Bucharest, I miss Chisinau and the other way round." The talent and the passion Cornelia Tihon has when she takes an instrument into her hands are unquestionably, the proof of a complex artist, of a mature spirit, that lives in a body of a teenager. For everything she is and everything she has done until now, Cornelia is supervised by the "Henry Coanda" Foundation - for intelligent children of Romania.
